Opus Clip wrote my hook for me. Here's what I found on the free plan.

Its Auto headline feature put a title on the first 5 seconds of my clip without me typing anything. Here's what I tested, what's good, and where it falls short.

What I tested

What's good

It writes the hookAuto headline is on the Free plan. In my test it titled the first 5 seconds for me.
Cheap to tryFree costs $0. My test used 1 credit. Paid plans start at Starter, $15/mo.
Vertical, with captionsIt reframes to 9:16 and adds AI captions with keyword highlights (watermarked on Free).
Works without a faceIt handles explainers and low-dialogue video. My test clip had no face on screen.

Two honest downsides

1. Watermark and no editor on FreeFree exports have an Opus Clip watermark, and when I tried to open the editor I got an upgrade screen. Free is for finding out if it fits you. If you post daily, you'll want Starter ($15/mo).
2. You still need to check what the AI picksThe headline was good, but review the hook text and the cut before you post. Free plan files expire after 3 days, so download them right away.

Who it's for / not for

Good fit
  • Podcasters and interview hosts sitting on long episodes
  • Faceless tutorial and explainer channels
  • Solo creators who struggle with the first 3 seconds
  • Non-native English creators (20+ transcription languages, incl. Korean)
  • Coaches with webinar or Zoom recordings
  • Anyone who wants to try it for $0 first
Not a fit
  • Editors who want frame-precise control (try Premiere or CapCut)
  • Creators with no long-form video to clip
  • Anyone who needs watermark-free output for $0
